From Tainser in Simdega Diocese, New Priest Ordained for Ranchi Archdiocese

Deacon Anuranjan Bilung was ordained a Priest for the Ranchi Archdiocese by Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas SFX, Auxiliary Bishop of Ranchi at St.Joseph’s Catholic Church, Tainser on Sunday. At a simple but devout ceremony Deacon Anuranjan Bilung who hails from Patratoli in the parish of Tainser was led to the Altar by his mother and father and was presented for ordination for priesthood to the Bishop on behalf of the Ranchi Archdiocese by Fr Ajay Lakra, the Parish Priest of Garalodhma.

In his Homily the Bishop reminded the new Priest that he is called and chosen right from his mother’s womb to be a servant of God, so that God’s glory would be manifested through him. Therefore the call to Priesthood and our response to it is eternal and non revocable. If God’s glory is to be manifested through us then it is necessary that we walk in the right path and fulfill our priestly duty.

Non- performance of our task and moving away from our priestly life does not do justice to our call. God calls us to humble selfless service not of power but of selflessness. After the Mass the new priest was felicitated. The Bishop thanked Bishop Vincent Barwa and the Diocese of Simdega for encouraging many young men to join the Archdiocese of Ranchi.

Bishop Theodore praised the family for having gifted a daughter Sister Alka Bilung to religious life and a son Fr. Anuranjan Bilung as a Priest for the Ranchi Archdiocese. His Excellency thanked the people of Tainser for keeping the faith, the fruits of which we see through numerous vocations to priesthood and religious life. Fr Anuranjan Bilung, the new priest thanked the Archbishop, Bishops and priests for helping him grow in his vocation. He thanked the Don Bosco parish of Kokar for helping him during his Diaconate ministry. He expressed his gratitude to the Parish Priest, parishioners, mahila sangh, Catholic Sabha, Sisters and all the people who rendered help in organizing the ordination ceremony. Over 30 Priests, a number of sisters and about 5000 people perticipated in the Holy Mass.
