Readings: Rom 4: 5- 12, 16- 18; Lk 12: 8-12
In the present world, we all are attuned to certain patterns of lifestyle and routine. We have relationships of every sort with nature and other human beings. We believe in one God and profess one faith. It is undeniable that many of us go without acknowledging and giving a comment on the good as well as the bad happenings.
We always tend to pass judgment on little incidents of life. The story of Abraham in the letter of St. Paul speaks of the importance of gratefulness for the faith received by Abraham from God. God’s promise of blessing and forgiveness was realized through Abraham’s faith and became an example to be imitated in our journey of faith.
Similarly, the gospel reading reminds us of how we ought always to acknowledge the person of Jesus Christ, most importantly in the presence of the Holy Spirit. The fact is that this world we live in is under the guidance and influence of the Holy Spirit, who inspires, leads and guides us in all circumstances. We can be forgiven from our all inequities but not the words against the Holy Spirit.
My takeaway from the scripture readings of the day is to give praise and thanks to God for the faith I received from grandparents, parents, teachers, formators and even more from the life of ordinary people at various stages of my life. Today, I am called to acknowledge God’s continuous accompaniment in my faith journey and to listen to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in all my undertakings and decision making, and to be cautious of the words I speak and the kind of life I live each day.
