Readings: Ezek 18: 1-10,13,30-32; Mt 19: 13-15

In the first reading, God calls the people of Israel to repentance, urging them to turn away from their sins and embrace a new heart and spirit in him. This passage reminds us of the importance of our choices and their consequences, while also offering the hope and power to change for the better.

God desires wholehearted devotion, not half-heartedness. We are invited to turn away from our sinful tendencies and seek God’s mercy and kindness. Our past does not define us; our present choices do. By seeking God’s loving mercy and surrendering completely, we open ourselves to transformation.

In the gospel reading, Jesus highlights the importance of children, saying, “Let the little children come to me, for the kingdom of God belongs to them.” Jesus emphasizes approaching him with childlike wonder, trust, humility, and innocence. He invites us to surrender our pride and self-reliance, embracing our dependence on God’s love and care. The kingdom of God belongs to those who come to him with a heart full of trust and humility.
