Readings: Mic 7:14-15, 18-20; Lk 15:1-3, 11-32
‘True love does not reject rather embraces; true love gives life in fullness who is God alone.’ Jesus loved us and his love for us is manifested by dying on the cross. He assured us that he will rise
to die no more. The readings of the day invite us to abide in God’s love. Lent is a season of fasting, praying, and giving. It is also a season of reflection and spiritual preparation for our lives. We
see in the gospel reading, how the son realizes his past and the present and takes a step to return towards his loving father.
It is an invitation to all of us to reveal Christ’s abundant love to one another. As believers of Christ, we need to share Christ’s love. Jesus says, ‘love one another as I have loved you.’ During
this season of Lent, the readings ask us to be reach out to those whom we have failed to share our love with, or seek forgiveness from our family, or neighbours, or the community we live in for
any conflict and for those times when we have failed to recognize our own mistakes.
God is merciful and loving, he invites us to return to him and embrace his love. Let us be open to change our hearts and minds and prepare ourselves spiritually to ease Christ’s burden. Let us be open to love and say, ‘I will arise and go to my father and say, ‘Father I have sinned against heaven and before you’. God does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.
