The basic work of servants is to do all that the master commands, for which the servants are not appreciated. The priority for the servants is to fulfil the needs of the master, then he can begin to do whatever else he wants: such is the commitment expected of any servant.
Jesus the master humbled himself and took up a servant’s role in washing the feet of his disciples. Here Jesus shows clearly what it means to be a real servant and to what extent one must be humble.
As followers of Jesus, we need to imitate Jesus. In our life there is nothing to boast of our work but all the work that we do should be oriented towards giving praise to God who is our
ultimate Master.
