Readings: Act 5: 34-43; Jn 6: 1-15
In the first reading, we see the Spirit of the Lord moving alongside apostles and followers, they were ready to face the trials before councils and suffer for the risen lord. For the believers, it is not persecution. It is their dedication and commitment.
The gospel reading tells us about the multiplication of bread and feeding a large gathering. It shows that Jesus is compassionate towards his people. He fulfils both the physical and spiritual hunger of the people. People had enough to satisfy their physical hunger, so they collected extra baskets of fragments of loaves. Here the boy shows an ordinary act of generosity to share his portion with all. This act is a demonstration of faith when we place our trust in him wholeheartedly.
So today these readings invite me to grow in faith and trust in God’s providence and have a true heart of generosity.
