Readings: 1 Jn 4: 11-18; Mk 6: 45-52
The first reading highlights the transformative power of God’s love, urging us to reflect on how it shapes our relationships with him and others. This love fosters understanding, compassion, and deeper connections, inspiring us to build meaningful bonds. It reassures us through the Holy Spirit, enabling us to strengthen our relationship with God. In this season of Christmas, we are reminded to perfect our love for God, which instils confidence and dispels fear, grounding our connection in trust.
The gospel reading recounts the moment when Jesus walks on water to reach his disciples, who are struggling against strong winds. After feeding the five thousand, Jesus sends them ahead while he stays behind to pray, demonstrating his reliance on the Father.
When the disciples see Jesus walking toward them, they are terrified, thinking he is a ghost. But he immediately reassures them, telling them to take courage and not be afraid. Jesus calms the storm, and the disciples are amazed, struggling to comprehend the miracle. Together, these readings invite me to grow in God’s love, deepen my relationship with him, and recognize his divine revelations in my daily life.
