Readings: 1Cor 1:17-25; Mt 25:1-13
The readings of the day invite us to reflect upon our goals to reach Christ. I believe everyone has a goal but a few of us achieve it and the rest of us fail because of a lack of focus. I would like to divide people who have goals into three types. The first group consists of people who have a focus to achieve their goals but looking at the struggles, ups and downs in their life, they fail to continue their chosen life. The second group focus on their goals as they step forward and when they reach their comfort zone, they do not take their life further. The last group of people accept the problems and focus on goals and then, succeed in their life.
In the first reading, we see St. Paul’s aim was not to baptize the people but to preach the good news of God. In all moments of persecution, he never gave up his mission. He was clear about his mission. Further he says that if our focus is to reach Christ, the cross becomes the power of God, if not it remains foolishness.
In the Gospel, we see two groups of people: the first group of people come with preparation and focus, but the other group failed to prepare themselves. We may not know when the son of man comes. So, let us have a clear focus towards achieving our goal to reach God.
