Readings: 2Sam 7: 1-5,8-12,14,16; Rom 16: 25-27; Lk 1: 26-38
As we are nearing the celebration of the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, the readings invite us to be a favoured one in the eyes of God. When Mary was able to find favour in the sight of God, she was able to bring Jesus to this world. Today we are invited to find favour in the sight of God to have a worthy celebration of this Christmas. How do we find ourselves favoured in the sight of God?
Mother Mary is the perfect example for us. It is evident from her life that she was obedient to the will of God and put the Word of God into practice in her life. Today, she is teaching us that when we become doers of the Word of God, we become agents of bringing Christ to the afflicted world. Mother Mary becomes an example for us to follow in the footprints of Jesus. Her whole life gives us the message that if we can live a holy life with our own limitations and doubts, we will be able to find favour in the eyes of God and will be able to bring Jesus to this world through our very way of life.
Thus, our celebration of this Christmas becomes a meaningful one for us and the whole society in which we live. In this pandemic situation, celebration of Christmas becomes more meaningful when each one of us prepare ourselves like how Mother Mary prepared herself and brought Jesus to this world 2000 years ago. Today God needs our cooperation to bring Christ to this world. When our cooperation with God is according to the will of God, then with the birth of Jesus this year, God will be in the life of each one of us.
