“Master, how good it is that we are here! We will make three tents, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah”. (Lk 9:33)
Today the mother church celebrates the feast of transfiguration. On this day Jesus along with his three disciples, Peter, James and John went up to the hill to pray to his father. While he was praying his face changed: his appearance became dazzling white: and Moses and Elijah joined him in conversation.
The three disciples were privileged to witness of this splendid scene. The disciples experienced light, love, joy and peace in their life. The disciples not only saw the transfiguration of Jesus, but also heard the voice of the father, saying that “this is my son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” This must be the first time that the disciples were hearing the voice of the Father, seeing his son’s true identity and role in this world.
This feast of Transfiguration invites us to know our true identity and role in this world. Are we conscious of our rootedness in Christ? Do we realize our role to be Christ to others? Don’t we feel that God the Father affirms us as his “Beloved Sons” and stands by what we say to the world?
