Readings: Titus 2: 1-8,11-14; Lk 17: 7-10

Today’s readings encourage us to be responsible and do good in every area of our lives—at work, in our education, in our relationships, in our sense of humour, in our love, and in how we care for others. Paul encourages Titus first, to be different by teaching the truth, then explain what kind of behaviour goes along with sound teaching. We are called to be leaders like Titus to tell older men, women, younger women, and younger men to be serious, sensible, self-controlled, and sound in their trust, love, and perseverance.

In the gospel, Jesus continues to teach his disciples about their responsibilities in God’s kingdom. After a long day of hard work, when they are dirty and sweaty, they shouldn’t expect to sit back and enjoy a feast. Instead, he emphasizes that serving others is a privilege, and no reward is required.

The life of St. Josaphat Kuntsevych, explains all about what the readings wanted to tell us as Christians. Like Titus, he worked tirelessly for the unity of the Church. In a time when denominational differences often divide people, his efforts to bring about unity are especially significant.

He teaches us the value and importance of unity under a shared faith, urging us to overlook small differences for the larger interests of the Church. His unwavering dedication to his faith teaches us the importance of steadfastness in leadership, even amidst obstacles. St. Josaphat Kuntsevych, intercede for us, so that we may embody the courage to stand firm in our beliefs.
