In the first reading we read about Moses’ appointment as God’s instrument in liberating Israelites from the burden of Egyptian slavery. God listened to the cry of the people and decided to set them free. Today’s Gospel also speaks about liberation from burdens.
Jesus offers comfort and rest to all those who find life burdensome. All those who feel tired, emotionally drained, or depressed can easily be uplifted by the comforting presence of Jesus.
All of us encounter various problems in life, whether they are big or small, they make us sometimes sad, tired, and worried. When these problems go unsolved for a long time, we feel disappointed and become depressed. So, what do we do to solve our problems?
To whom do we seek help? Turn to Jesus and offer ourselves into his loving and liberating hands. When people ignore us or ridicule us, we turn to Jesus with the child like trust, with expectant faith and humility, and we are assured of respite from all our sufferings and pain. Only in Jesus we find total comfort and happiness.
