We can be more like the ‘just’ one inspired by today’s first reading: Joyfully living and speaking the truth even when we are around people who may react with negativity or live wicked life.
The Gospel speaks about the wickedness of the Jews; they are plotting to kill Jesus, the just one, because he appears different from all of them. Jesus tries to tell them that he comes from God, and they need to listen to his message. But Jews ignored him as their intention was just to blot him out of the world because he spoke the wisdom from the heavenly Father.
The only way we really get to know Jesus is through our regularity in prayer and reading of the scripture. We live today in a world faced with hostilities. Yet, through prayer and frequent reception of the sacraments we receive the strength, courage, and fortitude to face the challenges. When we read, reflect, and pray over the words of God, we are given the grace to remove all sorts of blindness and cast off the wickedness that is in us. In prayer, we encounter and embrace Jesus, the son of God who makes our life graceful and meaningful.
