Readings: Rom 6: 12 – 18; Lk 12: 39 – 48
Today the reading invites each of us to be faithful and humble servants of God throughout our life journey. In today’s gospel reading, Jesus explains clearly to us about servant discipleship through these questions: what are the responsibilities of God’s servants on earth? And what does God wish and expect the servants to do for his people and his kingdom?
From the life of Jesus and his entire mission, we can strongly claim that a servant is not only promised and chosen by God, but also is one who has totally surrendered to the will of his Father. In order to support God’s earthly kingdom and serve his people faithfully, he become a servant leader on earth.
In this way, we are all chosen disciples and followers of Christ. God has shaped us, and bestowed upon us various gifts and talents according to our abilities and capacities. The received talents and gifts of ours, have its goal and purpose of fulfilling God’s mission on earth. The humble submission to the divine call and his will, trusting the divine providence in all the situations of our lifetimes, and self surrendering oneself totally to God’s will help us to concentrate and find satisfaction of joy and happiness in Lord’s mission.
