Margao: “We should know our call and follow Jesus in a prophetic manner,” said Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Port Blair Bishop Alex Dias.
Bishop Alex Dias was delivering a homily on the theme “Mary lived her call in a prophetic manner” on the solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at the Carmelite Monastery, Margao.
“To follow Jesus in a prophetic manner, Mother Mary is a model for us. We need to imbibe her virtues and devotion to Mother Mary,” Bishop Dias said and reminded the faithful that God called each one of us personally and we are responsible to respond to his call in a prophetic manner.
Elaborating on the role of the Carmelites in spreading the devotion to Mother Mary, Bishop briefed the historical aspects of the devotion to the Brown Scapular.
Secular Carmelites renewed their promises on this occasion. Those responsible for giving the ‘Heritage tag’ to the Chimbel Carmelites Convent, which is in ruins, were felicitated at the hands of Bishop Alex Dias and Councillor Fr. Ronald D’souza.
Fr. Fantino Pereira was the Liturgical animator. Liturgical choir was led by Leena. Superior of the Carmelite Monastery, Fr. Archibald Gonsalves thanked all.
