‘Let Nothing Frighten You…’

Readings: Mic 2:1-5; Mt 12:14-21

The first reading tells us that hurting others and doing wrong will have serious consequences. God is aware of everything and will ensure that justice is done. The psalm expresses that when we feel like God is not helping, we should keep faith that he will act at the right time and bring justice.

In the gospel, we see how Jesus deals with those who want to harm him. Instead of fighting back, Jesus chooses a peaceful path. He trusts in God’s plan and responds with kindness and humility. As St. Augustine said, “Trust the past to the mercy of God, the present to his love, and the future to his providence.” As God’s chosen ones, we should avoid doing wrong and hurting others because God sees everything and will ensure justice. Trust in God even when we see bad things happening and feel like he is not there.

As St. Teresa of Avila reminds us, “Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you, all things are passing away: God never changes.” Follow Jesus’ example by dealing with problems confidently, trusting in God’s plan.
