Let Us Radiate Our Way of Life

Readings: Acts 12:24-13:5; Jn 12:44-50

The liturgy of the day invites us to come out of the darkness and let the light into our lives. In today’s gospel Jesus presents himself to me as the image of God and the light of the world saying “I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness.” (Jn 12:47)

We live in a world of darkness and a lot of noise (distraction). It may sometimes confuse us and change our direction from light to darkness. Many do not like darkness because it is fearful. It is impossible for anyone to drive a vehicle without headlight in a village at night. If there is a big lamp or a torch to go through the darkness while driving or riding at night, how happy one would be!

What we need in our life is less noise and a bit more light. We pray for God’s light in our lives. And we are called to be a light to lead everyone to God just as Jesus did. Let us ask his grace that we might in some way become a candle to others. It is fairly easy to make noise, but a lot harder to give light. Because it requires self-control, discipline, sacrifice, and so on. We have the power to share Jesus’ light with others by our way of life, let us radiate it.
