Readings: Acts 1: 12-14; Lk 1:26-38
Today we venerate our Lady of the Holy Rosary. The annunciation of the Angel Gabriel to Virgin Mary was the most honourable of all time and most significant in the journey toward our salvation, it paved way for the fulfilment of God’s promise. Mary like any girl of her time had no qualification or any theological knowledge to comprehend the words of the Angel Gabriel. So, she questioned, “what sort of greeting this might be” (1:29). However, her God-fearing gave her the necessary grace to accept come what may. She is the channel of God’s mighty work for the redemption of humanity. She became the powerful intercessor for us all, right from the very moment of accepting the greeting of the Angel Gabriel.
The heavenly creatures adorned Mary as ‘Blessed.’ The angel knew that he was talking to the would-be mother of the King of kings. She was not a normal human being like any other because God chose her to be his channel of grace.
We too are not that different in this regard if we allow God to touch us. Our life will change drastically if we like Mary fear the Lord and allow God to use us as his instrument even when things do not seem to match our logic. I believe Godwishes to touch many souls through us. We have responded to that call, accepting him as our Lord and God. The only thing that separates us from the call is we are relaxing, and not enough attention is given to what he wants us to be. We still leave a place for doubts, we still block our hearts from giving ourselves completely to his will. Instead, we pray that our will be done.
Today as we commemorate the feast of our Lady of Rosary, let us ask Mother Mary to teach us, how to place our trust in God’s plan and dare to say, “Let it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38). Let us shift our focus, and desire doing his will. May Mother Mary bless us with wisdom and grace. May we learn to trust in God and make doing his will all that we strive for all the days of our life.
