Readings: Zec 2: 10 – 13; Mt 12: 46 – 50
As we celebrate the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we are reminded of the beauty of surrender and the courage it takes to align our lives with God’s purpose. The first reading of the day speaks of God’s promise to dwell among his people, inviting joy and anticipation because the Lord comes not just for one nation but for all who seek him. This reading reminds us that God’s presence brings unity and peace, drawing many nations to himself. Even when we stray, he never leaves us; he is always near, desiring to dwell within us.
In the gospel, Jesus states, “Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” This passage reveals that we are all called to be part of God’s family—not through birth, but through our shared faith and obedience. Saint Teresa of Avila once said,
“Prayer is an act of love,” reminding us that our relationship with God strengthens our connection to one another. Saint Francis de Sales said, “You cannot be half a saint; you must be a whole saint or no saint at all.” This emphasizes our commitment to living fully in accordance with God’s will. Inspired by Mary’s example, may we deepen our faith and offer our lives in service and trust, just as she did.
