Readings: Acts 12:24-13:5; Jn 12:44-50 –
I believe everything that the world needs to know and learn about God is made known in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus lived, talked, worked and experienced human life so that he could make us know that God is with us, and that personal relationship, intimacy and love with God is very much possible for us.
That is why Jesus through the Gospel of today is saying that all that he has been doing, all that he has been teaching and revealing are to tell the world about the love of God.
However, Jesus also says that there is nothing that can be done for those who do not want to accept and believe that God loves them. In my personal life and faith experience I would honestly say that it would have been impossible to accept that God loves us, and to endure the human pains and affliction that I have faced personally and in the family, if Christ never came as a human into this world. The reality that Jesus Christ is not an imaginary character, but a truly historical person give witness to the love of God for us.
Christ who became man for the sake of love would not wish, even if possible, to escape the inevitable reality of human pain, suffering and temptation. He endured all pain and tasted death. He was kind, merciful and loving. He understood emotions and human limitations. He touched and felt the human pain.
He taught us how to live through pains and difficulties and above all to love and to forgive the hardest things we must do. Christ made known through his life, suffering, death and resurrection the message of love, mercy, and forgiveness to the entire world. May we learn from Christ to live our life as true Christian in our own little ways.
