Readings: Ex 3:1-8, 13-15; Cor 10:1-6, 10-12; Lk 13:1-9
Today is the third Sunday of Lent. The three readings invite each one of us to repent and turn towards God so that we may not die, but bear fruit in our life. In the first reading, we see God appearing to Moses in the burning bush, and appointing him as a leader to redeem the people of Israel.
In the second reading, St Paul invites all of us to walk in the right path. The people of Israel walked in the desert, went astray from God, because of which they got their punishment. St. Paul reminds us to walk in God’s ways and repent our sinful deeds and ask forgiveness from God so that we may not perish like the people of Israel.
In the gospel reading, Jesus speaks about the parable of the fig tree. The gardener speaks of digging around, putting manure, and expecting fruit in the next year. Through this parable, Jesus gives us another chance to repent. Therefore, this Lenten season is the time to look at our lives and take some resolutions and live them in our day-to-day life, so that God will bless us with good fruits in our life.
