Readings: Zech 9:9-10; Rom 6:9,11-13; Mt 11:25-30
Today’s readings invite each one of us to thank God for the faith that we have received. Even though he is the son of God, Jesus gives thanks to God for all authority that he has received, and he remains ever humble before God the Father. Even at the point of death, he gives himself totally to God and his people. And he teaches his disciples to worship God in spirit. The spirit through whom all creation was made raised Jesus from the dead, and the same spirit is also deep within each one of us leading us to God.
A lot of the time we fail to live in the spirit, and we fall into the traps of the flesh. When we live in the flesh, the devil is close to us. But when we live in the Spirit, our life changes, we live a grateful life, and we put to death the deeds of the flesh. This can come only when we stand before him in a spirit of humility and poverty, acknowledging our inability and smallness.
Today, Jesus invites all of us to come to him and take up his Spirit within us. Then we can live our life with a grateful heart.
