Today’s saint. Francis Xavier Cabrini reminds us, “We must be the light of the world,” urging us to actively live out our faith and serve those in need.

This call resonates with St. Paul’s message to Titus about leading by example and nurturing the community with love and compassion. In our Gospel passage, the lone leper who returned to express gratitude exemplifies how true faith and thankfulness lead to deeper healing. Pope Francis often echoes this sentiment, stating, “Gratitude is the memory of the heart,” highlighting the importance of recognizing God’s gifts in our lives. When we pause to appreciate our blessings, we cultivate a spirit of gratitude that transforms our hearts and actions.

Living righteously, as St. Paul suggests, is indeed our highest form of thanksgiving. Let us not only remember to thank God for our individual blessings but also to share those blessings with others, embodying the love and compassion that both Cabrini and Pope Francis champion. In doing so, we truly become instruments of peace and hope in our communities.
