Readings: Rev 20:1-4, 11-21:2; Lk 21:29-33
The readings of the day remind us of important truths about faith, judgment, and hope. In the book of Revelation, we are presented with a powerful vision in which good ultimately prevails over evil.
An angel binds Satan, showing us that even in difficult times, we can trust that God is in control. The judgment scene reminds us that our actions matter; we should reflect on how we live and treat others. The promise of a new heaven and a new earth gives us hope for a future filled with peace and joy in God’s presence, for which we need to remain vigilant.
In today’ s gospel, Luke inspires us to stay strong in our faith, knowing that there is a beautiful destiny awaiting those who believe. Jesus uses the fig tree to teach us about being aware of what is happening around us. Just as the budding tree signals the coming of summer, we should be alert to the signs of God’s kingdom.
Jesus reassures us that his words are enduring, and we can rely on them, even when circumstances in the world change. We look forward to the second coming of the Lord, and we should never lose hope or patience. This is a time for us to wait for the Lord with open hearts and minds, living with hope and expectation, recognizing that God is always working in our lives.
