Readings: Dan 3:25.34-43; Mt 18:21-35
God deals with human beings in a merciful and forgiving fashion; so we human being should deal with our fellow human being with similar passion. Today’s Gospel speaks about Forgiveness.
Forgiveness is one of the greatest values of the kingdom of God. Jesus tells us that there is no end for forgiveness. Jesus says that we need to forgive others seventy times seven. But the question here is how can I forgive others who hurt me so much? I remember reading somewhere; that we need to forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness but we need to forgive others because we deserve peace of mind.
The parable of the day; which speaks about unforgiving servant; who failed to understand the love which he experienced; he was self-cantered. I too remember keeping a grudge on one of my seniors which ended up in not talking for two years. Our founder Blessed Moreau is a perfect example of forgiveness; we as his children are invited to do the same. To summarise today’s Gospel we can use Mt 7:12 “do to others what you would have them do to you” so let our prayer be today; Lord make me like you.
