Today’s liturgy invites me to keep up the sacredness towards God’s temple. During my childhood I used to make the sign of the cross when I saw a church while traveling from one place to another. But slowly that attitude has changed in me.
Now I admire the structure of different churches when I visit not the sacredness of it. Even today, as a seminarian, I go to the chapel and pray during prayer time, but when I do some work in the chapel, I tend to forget that I am in a sacred place.
In the gospel, Jesus urges to keep the sacredness of the temple. He says, “My house shall be a house of prayer.” Through this act of Jesus, I am asked to fall back to my old tradition of keeping the sacredness of the church. I need to realize for myself that I am in the place of resurrected Christ who is present in the tabernacle of each church. And I need to maintain its sanctity.
To continue its mission, ICM needs your support.
