In the gospel of the day Jesus speaks of his Father’s providential care by using two images; the first image is ‘the sparrow’. He knows all about the little sparrow that is so common and forgotten. The second image is ‘the very hairs of our head’. He knows every hair of a person’s head, even the number of his hairs.
God cares for each one of us, and God will continue to take care of us. We do not need to be afraid, even when life is difficult and confusing. The challenge for us is that to remain firm when life is painful or frightening.
Sometimes, we are simply overwhelmed by the challenges and difficulties of our lives. And at these times, it may seem that there is no way out. These moments of our life should help us to continue to trust God and allow him to work in us according to his plan. God’s help and care can come to us in different ways through different people.
In today’s first reading we saw that Joseph took ‘the place of God’ in showing his merciful love to those who illtreated him. He cared for them without displaying bitter feelings. We are also invited to be like Joseph in becoming agents of casting out fear from the earth by manifesting God’s compassionate love.
