Readings: 2 Cor 9:6-10; Jn 12: 24-26
There is a great lesson that we all learn from the Eagle which lives nearly 70 years. To live up to 70 years the eagle has to make a strong decision to take rebirth at the age of 40. This painful process is more than death itself.
A lot of people on this earth wish to do something great in life but it becomes more painful when they have to work for the same. Often a lot of good dreams do not get actualized but get buried underground because of laziness. It is pretty much the same when people make a wish in their prayer to go to heaven, but no one wants to die.
The reading of the day also uses the metaphor of seed dying to itself in bringing forth new life. The mother church itself is a great example of the readings of the day. A lot of saints and martyrs shed their blood for their fidelity to God and in proclaiming his word.
The struggles and challenges that the early church went through promoted the growth of the church. The persecutors did not realize the great contribution that they made. No matter the number of obstacles, the seed grows. Life is difficult but growth is the nature of life. we cannot avoid challenges, but we can give meaning to those sufferings and can grow through those challenges and march towards God the Almighty.
