Jesus in the gospel of the day tells us that as we fulfill our spiritual duties, we must follow the civil laws too. We are people of God as well as of this world, spiritual as well as physical beings.
Therefore, we are responsible to live as citizens of God and citizens of this world. We have an obligation to the government under which we live. We must show openness in supporting a good governance which manifests the reign of God. We should have real knowledge about the life situations around us and must get involved in the activities that promote social transformation.
While responding to the needs of the society we need to have the knowledge that all our life-giving activities have origin in God. As servants of God, we have greater obligation to God. We owe him our wholehearted commitment and fidelity. May the spirit of God guide us in all that we do to fulfill our spiritual as well as earthly obligations.
