Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, a key event in salvation history that highlights her role as the mother of Jesus. Celebrated since the 6th century, this feast reminds us of Mary’s virtues, inspiring us to emulate them in our own lives as Christians.

The first reading offers a vision of the Messiah’s coming, a time of healing and transformation when disabilities are cured, deserts bloom, and joy abounds. This prophecy assures us of God’s promise to renew our lives and the world. The second reading from James warns against favouritism, urging us to treat all people with respect and dignity as children of God. True faith is shown through sincere hearts and actions of love, especially toward the poor and marginalized.

In the Gospel, Jesus heals a man who is deaf and has a speech impediment, showing His compassion and power to restore wholeness. This miracle emphasizes the importance of faith and Jesus’ desire to bring us together in community. As we reflect on these readings, we are reminded to live our faith through love, justice, and inclusion. May Mary’s example inspire us to embrace these virtues daily.
