Readings: Ex 23:20-23; Mt 18:1-5, 10
Today we celebrate the feast of the Guardian Angels. I am encouraged through the readings of the day to listen, give attention, and obey the voice of the Guardian Angels. They are sent by the Lord to accompany me in my life Journey here on earth. I consider them as my guides who direct and protect my life from evil. St. John Bosco said, “When tempted, invoke your angel. He is more eager to help you than you are to be helped! Ignore the devil and do not be afraid of him: he trembles and flees at the sight of your guardian angel.”
I am surrounded by the angels in the spiritual realm and in the physical realm. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that ‘from its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by the angels’ watchful care and intercession. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life’ (CCC 336).
As I am guided by my guardian angel on the path of God, I believe that my angel is an expression of God’s love and providence. I am called to embrace the simplicity and humility so that my angel will remain with me enabling me to experience the protection of God.
