Dimapur: Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD, an ecumenical association of Churches based in Dimapur, in the State of Nagaland exhorted all people to come in the aid of government to contain Corona virus (Covid-19).
In a meeting held on Tuesday at the North East Institute of Social Science and Research NEISSR; CFD Chairman Rev. Moses Murry welcomed the members and highlighted the activities that Christian Forum Dimapur has been rendering since the outbreak of pandemic crisis. CFD Vice-Chairman Rev. Vitoshe Swu, office bearers and the advisory members were also present at the meeting.
Rev. Moses appreciated the government officials, frontline workers, different civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations for their hard work in combating Covid 19.
CFD made a fervent appeal to the general public to cope with governments, non-governmental organizations and the frontline workers in implementing activities for the wellbeing of the people. They suggested judicious use of funds with accountability and transparency. They also requested government to enhance collaboration of the civil society organizations and churches to achieve the goal of combating COVID-19 more effectively and efficiently.
CFD also appealed to the churches and all civil organizations in following the standard operating procedures in letter and spirit to extend help and services to the quarantine centers. Where required, CFD offered its services by conducting praise and worships, prayer and counselling services to quarantine centres. A proposal also was given to the Dimapur district administration to make adequate arrangements on the road from railway station to the quarantine centres.
The meeting witnessed intense discussions which resulted in strong resolutions to combat Covid 19 crisis in the State of Nagaland, especially in Dimapur. As per the resolutions, CFD decided to continue the charity work with relief, campaign and other activities till the situation is completely brought under control. The meeting concluded with a ‘Talk Show’ with the officials of CFD and Ms. Gugu Heralu facilitated the talk show. Rev. Moses Mury, Rev. Vitoshe Swu, Rev.Dr. Papheno Angami, Advisor to CFD and Fr. Dr. C. P. Anto, the secretary of CFD spoke on various issues related to the challenges posed by Covid 19. The speakers were unanimous in highlighting the importance of collaborating with the Central and State governments.
