Guwahati: The Jowai Diocese in the Northeast region has officially established a new office building for the Diocesan Catholic Youth Movement (JDCYM). Bishop Ferdinand Dkhar, the Bishop of Jowai, inaugurated and blessed the new office on October 26, 2024. This blessing ceremony in Meghalaya was attended by Diocesan Youth Director (DYD) Father Ebormitre Henry Lamare, Diocesan Youth Lady Animator (DYLA) Sister Sooki Rufina Nongrum VSDB, Diocesan Youth President (DYP) Rishot Thubru, Diocesan Youth Secretary (DYS) Ms. Esbunmitre Nongrum, and other Executive Committee members of the JDCYM.
The atmosphere during the event was charged with excitement, as this day marked the long-awaited establishment of their office after 17 years of the JDCYM’s existence. “This office is not just a building; it represents our commitment to fostering unity and engagement among the youth of our Diocese,” stated Diocesan Youth Lady Animator (DYLA) Sister Sooki Rufina Nongrum VSDB.
The new office, located at the Samanlang Pastoral Centre in Lumbihsyntu, Jowai, has been designed to serve as a central hub for consolidating and efficiently organizing various youth-related materials and assets. “This office will foster a sense of community and purpose among our young people,” explained the Diocesan Youth Director, Father Ebormitre Henry Lamare. He emphasized the collective effort that went into its construction, acknowledging the enthusiastic support from the youth and the guidance provided by the Core Team of the JDCYM.
“This office symbolizes hope and unity for the youth of our Diocese,” said the Diocesan Youth Secretary Ms. Esbunmitre Nongrum, reflecting on the importance of this new facility. The blessing ceremony also featured the Youth Commission’s advisor and members of the Men’s and Women’s Catholic Associations, underscoring the event’s significance and the collective commitment to youth development.
Bishop Dkhar concluded the ceremony with a heartfelt message: “We thank God for this grace, and we look forward to using this office to continue our service for the youth of the Diocese.” His words reaffirmed the Jowai Diocese’s ongoing commitment to empowering and supporting its youth.
As the JDCYM embarks on this new chapter, they aim to enhance engagement and communication, ensuring that the voices of the youth are heard and their potential realized.
