A North East Youth Fellowship was held on October 10 to augment the anti-human trafficking initiatives in North-East India. The event was jointly organised by United Christian Forum North East India (UCFNEI), Hope Charitable Foundation (HCF) and North East Solidarity (NeS).
Two prominent speakers who spoke on the occasion were Chrysolyte Sanamanda, the founder and director of Red Rope and Mr. Solomon Antony, Lead, Community Relations from IJM.
“Human trafficking is an illegal trade of human being against their will for sexual exploitation and forced labour, the youth can play a vital role to resist this,” said Chrysolyte Sanamanda.
The presentations by Solomon Antony dealt in-depth awareness among the youth. In his view, ‘The formation of Anti-human trafficking clubs in the colleges, schools and villages in North East India can arrest the spread of this inhuman practice”.
The responses to the presentations were given by Miss Henna Rongpharpi, from Karbi Anglong Baptist Convention, and Miss Jennifer Tesong, from Manipur Baptist Convention.
The meeting was moderated Rev. Vikuo Rhi the president, BYFNEI and the deliberation ended with a prayer by Rev. W. C. Khongwir from (UCFNEI).
Earlier, the invocation prayer was led by Rev. Dr. B. J Syiemlieh from National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) and the welcome address was delivered by Mr. Monison Teron the Secretary of Baptist Youth Fellowship of North East India. The scripture reading was done by Miss Lakshmi Marak from Karbi Anglong Baptist Convention and the keynote address was presented by Mr. A. K.Goldsmith.
