The readings offer us many lessons to cultivate in our lives. In the first reading, St. Paul instructs Titus on how to appoint those who guide the faithful, emphasizing the qualities needed: faithfulness, goodness, purity, prudence, self-control, and the ability to lead others in the right direction.
In the gospel, Jesus reminds us that temptations to sin are inevitable. He invites us to learn to forgive one another as he forgave us from the cross, saying, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Forgiveness brings satisfaction and healing to the heart.
As members of the Church, we face many challenges and temptations, and to navigate these, we need God’s guidance and grace. Therefore, we must cultivate acceptance and forgiveness, remaining humble toward one another. As followers of Christ, we should continually ask the Lord to increase our faith, just as the apostles did.
Only through faith are all things possible. To grow in patience and understanding, we need the grace of Jesus, which is accessible only through faith in God. Therefore, we must depend on him, trusting that he will bless our efforts to become reflections of Christ for others.
