As I was praying for Poland, I heard the words: I bear a special love for Poland, and if she will be obedient to My will, I will exalt her in might and holiness. From her will come forth the spark that will prepare the world for My final coming.” (The Diary of St. Faustina, 1732)
The demise of Pope John Paul II is an irreparable loss not only for Poles but also for Catholics around the World. For many Catholics his leaving for the House of the Father is like the deprivation of a spiritual umbrella which protected the vulnerable world from the attacks of the devil. The situation becomes increasingly dramatic. Poland has inevitably rolled down into a neo-pagan abyss. The two main posing threats are liberalism and neo-Marxism. The forces of darkness bring about the most tragic disaster in the history of Polish aviation.
In 2010 near Smolensk, the president, Lech Kaczynski, along with 95 other members of the Polish elite dies. To make matters worse, in 2015, the harmful interception of the pill EllaOne is available over the counter. Polish teenage girls begin to swallow it like candy. In several places some voices are raised calling for the acceptance of abortion and the legalization of single-sex couples. The breakthrough comes when many Polish Catholics seem to be losing hope.
In October 2014 hardly anyone in Poland knows Andrzej Duda. Polls say no more than 5 per cent. Yet, the center-right PiS (Law and Justice) decides to put him up for presidential election. In January 2015, A. Duda manages to attract a mere 19 per cent, while his main opponent Bronislaw Komorowski enjoys the overwhelming support of 56 percent. For his election committee the victory in the first round is analogically indisputable, as it was before for Mustafa, Müller and Tukhachevsky. Meanwhile, to their complete amazement A. Duda wins, gaining 34.76 per cent of the votes in the first round and B. Komorowski scores 33.77 per cent of the votes. The mainstream media, especially GW and anti-Catholic TVN, compete with each other in the muddle, naming A. Duda.
Meaningfully, the decisive second round is held on Pentecost May 25. This time Andrzej Duda gains 51.55 per cent of the votes becoming the president of Poland. Bronislaw Komoroski and his team are downright flabbergasted. The parliamentary elections which take place in October cause great surprise as well. Since in January the same year the coalition of the main center-right party PiS and two minor right-wing parties is supported by 27 per cent while the ruling party center-left PO (Civil Platform) enjoys the support of 31 percent.
Actually, very few Poles expect a political upheaval. The faithful drop to their knees and reach for their rosaries. In many Churches on that memorable election day, October 25, a large number of people gather in front of the Blessed Sacrament. The opposition makes stunning headway, winning an outright majority in the Parliament with 37.58 percent of the votes, while the ruling PO is defeated with 24.09 percent. Seldom has human arrogance been brought so low. What is more, for the first time since the fall of communism, the left does not make it in to Parliament. For many Catholics in Poland it is the supernatural intervention of the Queen of Poland, for few, just a coincidence.
Had it not been for the unprecedented victory of the conservative coalition, Poland would be now drifting away from a relatively homogenous Catholic society, towards a godless and multicultural one. The Bible bluntly warns against it (1 Maccabaeus 41:64).
What is even more important is that three particularly vital events would not have occurred! The first was the ceremony of declaring Jesus Christ the King of Poland, attended by Poland’s president Andrzej Duda, marking the end of the Catholic Church’s Year of Mercy (November 2016). The second was consecrating a Church in Poland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary (June 2017). The Solemn Mass was attended by president Andrzej Duda, PM Beata Szydło, members of the government, MPs and representatives from local government.
Finally, the third was when more than a million Polish Catholics encircled their country imploring Our Lady’s intervention to save Poland and the world. The other two million prayed in churches, chapels, hospitals and at home. The Catholic prime minister of Poland endorsed the event, called “Rosary to the Borders” (October 2017). For some, these events are regarded as spiritual bulwarks which will protect Poland in the upcoming major chastisement. They can also be perceived as major cornerstones paving the way for the completion of Poland`s mission.
Voice of the Clergy
Pope Benedict XVI once said, “We would be mistaken to think that Fatima’s prophetic mission is complete.” That type of statement is not uncommon. During his Sunday sermon Fr. Dr Jaroslaw Mrowczynski says “We live at the dawn of apocalyptic events”. “It will not take forty years for it to happen. […] At present no other nation has such a great number of people who are clearly adhering to God. It can be easily noticed in the confessionals. Jesus has a special mission for Poland” he added with a smile – Fr. A. Pelanowski. When asked during a TV interview how that would happen Fr. Pelanowski explained “During prayer the Lord showed me that there would be a chastisement through water and fire […] I am really sorry for these who have got millions in their bank accounts […] It will not take forty years for this to happen”. It is said that more and more clergymen are declaring that Poland has a special mission to fulfill. To name but a few:
Fr. John Baptist Bashobora – “…Poles are called to evangelization”
Fr. Antonello Cadeddu – “I would point out that Jesus has a special job for Poland, just as St. Faustyna once uttered”.
Fr. Peter Glas – “After so many years working abroad, today at the beginning of 2017 I look at what is happening in the world and I understand the words, that Poles are the chosen people…”
Conclusion
I feel called to point out that all historical events described above share one common sine qua non denominator of the supernatural intervention that occurs solely when there can be found people of strong faith in a deplorable situation. Moreover, nowadays to protect the nation’s sovereignty and Catholic faith a set of different means seems to be expected by Heaven. Neither machine guns nor cannons can save nations but the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the Rosary.
Although Polish people, throughout their intricate and troubled history as a Christian nation treated God’s commandments with disregard, thanks to the special care of the Queen of Poland, they have not lost their faith or their attachment to Catholic tradition and to the Church. No one but God can know how far Poland has been obedient to His will. For God to give rain to the land of Israel depended on the children of Israel walking in God statues and keeping His commandments. Thus, if one day Poles depart from God then the most likely, pessimistic scenario is the one predicted by the Primate of Poland August Hlond (†1948) “Either Poland will be a Catholic country, or it will cease to exist”.
Finally, we should know what Jewish theologian Abraham Joshua Henchel thinks, while ruminating on the notion of chosenness: that it does not mean to be better than other nations, but one that should demand more from itself and ought to live better. The fact that the Jews are God’s chosen people means that they have been held to a high standard in spite of the fact that they repeatedly abandoned God and His commandments. Blessed archbishop Zygmunt Szczesny Felinski (†1895) compared Poland to St. Mary Magdalene because of her fun and frolics.
It remains to be seen if Poles meet God`s high standards to be exalted among nations. Ω
