‘God never intended for money to become our master. When money becomes our master, then it becomes idolatrous’. Today, the gospel
reading speaks about the dishonest steward who has falsified the account. Money is a necessity for our lives, but it should not corrupt our mind and dominate our lives.
Many times, we use other people’s money for our purposes but we do not have the right to mismanage others’ money. We see in the life of the steward who was in charge of his master’s account his unfaithfulness and carelessness in managing the account. In my life too management is important. When I mismanage other’s account there is no peace and contentment in the heart because I realize I have made a big error.
Therefore, Jesus reminds me to be faithful to the people who have trusted me and gave this opportunity to work for the good of people. So, let us ask pardon and forgiveness for the times we were not faithful to the people and towards our responsibility and pray for the grace of faithfulness, truthfulness, honesty, and accountability in dealing with money/finance and living with the people of God.
