All human beings are born with sin. “The sting of death is sin.” But Jesus broke the sting of death and rose from among the dead.
We often forget that we are sinful beings. We intend to look into the fault of others. ‘Hey, you have done something wrong’, rather than looking inward into our own mistakes. No disciple is greater than his/her own teacher but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
We are trying to follow Jesus to live like him and follow him. But often we forget that we need to resemble Christ and the Church in our deeds and actions. We are public figures, where we move people with our heart touching homilies, we do wonderful services, our degrees are spoken of, and so on…
But the fruit of our speech and actions will wither and die unless we first recognize the plank in our own eyes. By humbly admitting our sins, we can more fruitfully persevere in the work of the Lord.
