Readings: Wis 3:1-9; Rom 5:5-11; Jn 6:37-40
As we commemorate the All Souls day, the Mother Church calls us to pray for the souls who have departed in faith to live eternal bliss. The first reading gives us the assurance that the souls of the just enjoy the eternal peace in the sight of God. Through this reading, we are invited to live a just and righteous life with the assurance to reach the home of heaven which is our final destiny.
The second reading reminds us of the sacrificial love of Jesus that paid ransom for our sinful life and gave us salvation. We are called to realize this salvation and have hope in Jesus, to avoid sins and pray for our salvation and the salvation of our departed brothers and sisters who are in purgatory. Through Gospel reading, Jesus extends his invitation and assures that he is the eternal
life for those who come to him with hope and faith. He promises that he never abandons anyone who trusts in him.
As we are commemorating All Souls day, we are called to recapture the essentials of faith and hope. With great hope, we are called to pray for the eternal life of our departed loved ones. With strong faith, we are called to place our trust in the Lord who is the eternal life. Let us pray with great hope and faith in remembrance of our loved ones who have departed from us. We pray that they may enjoy the eternal bliss with God forever.
