Readings: 2 Chr 24: 17-25; Mt 6: 24-34
Many of us find it difficult to make decisions in our day-to-day life. Sometimes when we make wrong decisions, we either regret it or pay for their consequences.
In the first reading, people were blessed and protected for observing God’s commandments but punished whenever they disobeyed him. We also see how people made wrong choices by abandoning God.
Similarly in the gospel reading, Jesus is placing before us the choices we need to make. We cannot serve two masters: God and money. When we make wrong choices, we know what will happen to our life as we see in the first reading.
Therefore, through these readings, I am reminded that any decision that I make in life, I need to seek God’s help and guidance and allow the Holy Spirit to take control over me so that my decision will not make me suffer in future and that it will not be an obstacle to others.
We should never worry because God is the author of our lives. Worry leads us to sadness, disappointment, and dissatisfaction. We must place our trust in God before taking any major decision and surrender totally in the hands of God’s providence. In life, we may come across choices which are good and bad; right and wrong. During such times, we must discern to choose the good with the help of the Holy Spirit. We should not keep our legs into two boats, as we may end up sinking in water.
We need to be firm in life to stand uprightly to live a righteous life and remain faithful to God. He provides us abundantly and never abandons us. Let us pray that we may discern well with the help of Holy Spirit to do anything in our life.
