Put Your Life in the Hands of Jesus

Jacob Perikala csc –

Readings: Col 1:9-14; Lk 5: 1-11

The first reading gives me confidence that though I am a sinner, still I am saved by the redemptive power of God. In the gospel, Peter was captivated by the power of Jesus and accepted to follow him. We are all called to be instruments who help Jesus in his mission.

God gives us the freedom to be with him or not. Jesus beckons us always to have persistence in the life that I am called to live. Being a disciple is not a simple task. I am like a fishing net in the hands of Christ.

While gathering people closer to God I may undergo lots of suffering in the forms getting hurt and persecution. At that moment I need to put my life in the hands of Christ and he will restore me if only I cling to him till the end. In my mission, he is the one who heals me and stitches me and cleans me from worldly harm. Being a net does not mean that I am greater than the one who catches fish so in my mission I am invited to be humble and say that whatever is done through me is done by the one who directs me.
