Readings: Acts 25:13b-21; Jn 14:26
Jesus’ love is unconditional. His love is everlasting and without limits. We see in the gospel, Jesus asked Peter three times “Do you love me?” However, Peter replied affirmatively, “Yes Lord, you know that I love you”. We know that Peter denied Jesus three times, but Jesus still believes in him because Jesus sees the heart of repentance in him. Jesus did not reject him but instead entrusted him with a great responsibility in leading the Church.
We are all sinful people, but Jesus still calls us to follow him because he wants us to be like him to love unconditionally. He has also entrusted us with the responsibility in continuing his ministry to spreading and proclaiming the Kingdom of peace, love and joy here on earth.
Today Jesus asks the same question to us: “Do you love me?” What is our response to his love?
Let us ask ourselves, ‘how much do we really love Jesus? Do I pretend to love Jesus just for gaining some interest? If I really love Jesus, am I ready to sacrifice my life for others? Do I really love my fellow beings that I see and live with?’ Let us pray for the grace that we may remain in the love of Christ that we have received and also to radiate that love of Christ to others generously.
