In the heart of Bettada Halasuru, a serene village nestled amidst the verdant greenery of Hanchaguli hill near Kanakapura (about 70 kms from Bangalore in Karnataka), lies St. Anthony’s Church—an emblem of unwavering faith and communal harmony. For years, this sacred edifice has served as a sanctuary, not only for the local Catholic community but also for large faithful pilgrims from neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Yet, amidst the tranquil ambiance, a fervent desire stirred within the hearts of the faithful—a longing for a dedicated space of solace and adoration. Led by the indomitable spirit of Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Christopher White, the community embarked on a noble endeavour to construct an Adoration Chapel—a haven for spiritual introspection and communion. However, their journey, though marked by steadfast determination, is not without its trials.

The inception of the Adoration Chapel project germinated in the minds of the church’s leadership and congregation a couple of years ago. The need for a sanctuary where one could seek solace in silent prayer away from life’s tumultuous currents grew increasingly palpable. “We envisioned a sacred space where individuals could deepen their spiritual connection with God,” expressed Father White, reflecting on the genesis of the project.
Yet, the path towards realisation has been fraught with challenges—financial constraints, logistical intricacies, and bureaucratic hurdles loomed large. Undeterred, Fr. White and the community forged ahead, drawing strength from their collective resolve and unwavering faith.
The fundraising efforts have been nothing short of extraordinary, a testament to the boundless generosity and solidarity within and beyond the parish. From grassroots initiatives like handmade crafts sales to grander endeavours such as Christmas charity carnivals, the community has rallied together in a unified chorus of support. “The outpouring of support has been overwhelming,” remarked Maria, a devoted member of the congregation. “It’s a testament to the power of community and faith.”
Crucially, the construction of the Adoration Chapel has relied heavily on the sweat and labour of the parish community. Local craftsmen, artisans, and labourers have lent their expertise, transforming mere blueprints into tangible expressions of devotion. “It’s more than just a construction project; it’s a labour of love,” attested Ravi, a carpenter involved in the endeavour.

Sunlit interiors, adorned with planned intricate stained glass panels depicting scenes from Christ’s life, will provide a serene backdrop for contemplation and prayer. The Altar, envisioned as a masterpiece of artisanal craftsmanship, will serve as the focal point for adoration—a testament to the enduring power of faith and community.
Despite the significant progress achieved, the project’s completion hangs in the balance due to financial constraints. The Adoration Chapel, though a physical structure, symbolises far more—an embodiment of hope, unity, and love. “It will be a sanctuary for generations to come,” expressed Father White, his gaze alight with hope. “A testament to the transformative power of faith.”
As prayers ascend heavenward, the parishioners, young and old, unite in their fervent endeavour. With every brick laid and every nail driven, they inch closer to their shared vision of a sacred sanctuary.
