Readings: Gen 15: 5-12,17-18; Phil 3:20- 4:1; Lk 9: 28-36
We are in the second Sunday of Lent. The readings of the day invite us to centre ourselves by having firm faith in God.
In the first reading, God makes two promises to Abraham: one, his descendants will be like stars in the sky and second one is regarding land they shall possess. We know well that land and descendants were great possessions for people in the Old Testament. This reveals the hope of Abraham in God. In the second reading, St. Paul invites us to strive for heaven by becoming radiant through the power of Christ.
In the gospel, we have the episode of the transfiguration of Jesus, which invites us to pray and listen to the voice of God in our daily lives. In prayer, we speak and submit ourselves to God. As Jesus prayed to his Father, he was transfigured. The second part of the gospel talks about listening to Jesus, as the chosen one, and the beloved of God.
Today, let us pray to God that all our preparation to reconcile with God may be fruitful during this season of lent. Through this, we will have strong faith in Jesus and listen to his voice to share his radiant glory and become citizens in heaven and on earth by praying, listening and doing the will of God in our daily lives.
