Readings: 1Jn 1: 5-2: 2; Mt: 2: 13-18
Today, the church celebrates the feast of Holy Innocents. The readings of the day help me to realize the purpose of my life and to surrender myself to the will of God.
When facing ups and downs in life, I had to do risk-taking, make decisions, make better choices for my life, and handle stress. All these factors sometimes put my spirit down! When I shared with one of my friends, he replied to me with the smiling face, that everything is for a good cause. Then I started to think about what made him to say like that. For this question, the readings of the day gave an answer: that every individual plans a perfect future but every time plans do not work and most of the time we have to manage with less.
In the gospel, King Herod wants to be a king forever and he didn’t want others to win over him. That made him hate others and even kill all the innocents. God has plan for everyone because his love is for Justice and hatred for evil. As the first reading reminds us God is the light and the one who follows him cannot walk in darkness. So let us know the purpose of our life as it is in the hand of God and take a direction towards Light. When we are working to fulfil the plan of God, we may face lots of struggle but there is one thing that can help us to achieve success and get positive energy: faith in God.
During this day let us bless God that we may be saved and come to knowledge of truth and light. Let us support those who meet with difficulty and disappointment, and let us renew their confidence and sense of purpose.
