Today is the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. On this day, Jesus reminds us of the institution of the Eucharist and the importance of partaking in the body and blood of Christ.
Eucharist is the source of Christian faith, and we believe that Jesus Christ presents himself in the form of body and blood. Jesus said ‘take, this is my body and blood’. He wants us to be like him and to be with him whenever we partake in his body and blood.
For me partaking in his body and blood means we are encountering Christ and transforming our whole body into that of Christ. In our daily life, many times we fail to acknowledge the presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and we fail to transform ourselves into Christ, because we do not have a good relationship with Christ, and we may have failed to allow Christ to intervene in our life.
Christ is our bread of life, when we abide in him, he abides more closely to us; when we come closer to him, he comes closer to us. He loves to be close to us always. Our relationship is strengthened through the Eucharist and we see each other and share the peace of Christ in every Eucharist. As we partake in the body and blood of Christ, let us be rooted in building a good relationship with God. And let us pray for one another so that we may respond to Christ’s invitation in our daily lives and live close to him.
