Resurrection for us is a new life in Christ, an event where we are in union with God. Those who are risen in Christ they never die again. They live like angels who ae always in the presence of the Lord.
Today’s readings invite us to stand firm in our faith and hope that we have in the resurrection. The resurrection is to share the glory of Christ, who is the bridegroom of the Church. It is the call to depend on Christ as the seven brothers did in the first reading. The second book of Maccabees beautifully narrates the story of those who courageously stood in times of persecution and death, hoping for the life that God alone gives. They believed in the resurrection and similarly the second reading too tells us that eternal comfort and grace is given by the Lord. We need to remain faithful and have confidence in Christ.
God is not the God of the dead but of the living, for him and in him we are alive. Therefore, as Christians and as followers of Christ we are called to live a joyful witnessing life that brings resurrection everyday. We are called to believe that at death our life is changed into new glorious and everlasting life. Death makes way to enter eternal life which brings us to face to face with the Lord.
Resurrection for us is a union with God, who loves us unconditionally. It is deep union with him, and it is to be like him. As we are on the pilgrimage towards the kingdom of God, let us be aware of the presence of Christ, who is always with us, who is our spouse and our eternal life that we firmly believe that one day we too will resurrect from this earthly life and join God in heaven.
