Readings: Acts 28: 11-16, 30-31; Mt 14: 22-33
The gospel reading of the day invites me to encounter problems by having great faith in Jesus. This reminds me of the saying, ‘With Christ I am hero, without him I am zero.’ God is eagerly waiting to listen to our calling for help. ‘Take heart, it is I, have no fear’ made Peter confident and courageous to walk on water.
In a way, Jesus removes the fears and empowers Peter to walk on water. Peter was able to walk on water only as long as he kept focus on Jesus. In our lives too, the moment we lose our focus on Jesus, we tend to get tensed, worried, frightened, and begin to sink into the water of problems and hardships. Our focus must be fixed on to Jesus which is possible through our personal prayers or worship. We sometimes feel that we should not ask any help from others, thinking others will come to know about our failures.
Sometimes we allow our pride to take control of us. But our Lord Jesus always exalts the humble and the lowly. Jesus is always there to save us whenever we are faced with difficulties, challenges, troubles, and disappointments. We only need to keep our focus on Jesus and cry for help without fear or hesitation in times of good and the bad. We are human, so we fall and rise again to walk with Jesus Christ.
