Readings: Is 48:17-19; Mt 11:16-19
The readings of the day reveal the diverse ways that God communicates with us and how we respond to messages of God. The first reading from Isaiah assures us that God is our teacher and leader, who guides us to the best way of living.
This reading invites us to trust and surrender to God’s plan, even when we do not fully understand it. The gospel reading from Matthew contrasts the different reactions of people to the wisdom of God, using the image of children playing in the market. Some people join the joyful dance, while others reject it.
This reading challenges us to examine our own openness to God’s wisdom and respect the variety of expressions in our faith journey. Both readings inspire us to appreciate the mystery and beauty of God’s communication, which transcends our human comprehension. They encourage us to seek a deeper connection with God, who speaks to us in many ways.
