Readings: Acts 6: 1-7; Jn 6: 16-21
In families and communities perception of, and complaints about, favoritism is easy to arise. And it was the first crisis that the apostles faced when the number of believers began to increase.
In Acts we see that even in the face of such issues, the apostles maintain their focus on their primary mission: to preach the Word of God. No amount of administrative work was to deflect them from who they were meant to be. They were no more afraid to prioritize. They did have a good training with their master who walked beside them as they tried to cross troubled waters, saying to them in their fearful moments: ‘Do not be afraid; it is I.”
I know my Master is always with me even when I face scary situations. May the Lord help me to keep my focus on the purpose for which the Lord has called me. May no other good work that I can do take away my primary call.
